If properly socialised as a puppy German Shepherds are great with children and they can generally get along well with other dogs and other household pets. As German Shepherds are a very intelligent and strong willed breed it is essential to be firm and consistent with their training.

German Shepherds have a particularly heavy, dense coat so a thorough weekly brush is required, paying close attention to sanitary areas. It is important to keep their nails trimmed to avoid impairing their walking ability, and to regularly check their eyes and ears to keep them clean and healthy.
German Shepherd Exercise Requirements:
German Shepherds are a breed that need considerable space for both their mental and physical well being. A daily walk is required, and if they are well socialised it is a good idea to take them to dog parks and other pet friendly areas to socialise and spend their energy.
