Toy Poodles are miniature athletes. They excel in advanced obedience competition, where retrieving and jumping skills are required, and in agility competitions, where they fly over and under and through the obstacles with a strength and grace that is breathtaking to watch.

Toy Poodle Temperament:

Toy Poodles are an alert, playful and lively breed, although they are small they are known to be energetic and boisterous. The Toy Poodle is an intelligent dog that loves human companionship and enjoys any attention you can give them. As Toy Poodles can be quite vocal at times, it is important that they are taught from an early age that barking is not okay. If it is an issue that develops it is essential that it is dealt with before it becomes a habit.

Toy Poodle Grooming:

Toy Poodles will need to be brushed every second day. During the summer especially, a clip is recommended every 6-8 weeks. It is important to keep their nails trimmed to avoid impairing their walking ability, and to regularly check their eyes and ears to keep them clean and healthy. As they are known for being a low to non-shedding breed they are considered a hypoallergenic dog.

Toy Poodle Exercise Requirements:

Even though they are small in size, Toy Poodles are quite energetic. They require a daily walk, although it doesn't have to be one of great distance.
