Mealworm Care Guide

Mealworms are supplied in bran, which acts as both bedding and food. For best results, keep them refrigerated. Cold storage slows their movement and development, helping them last for several weeks.

Even when stored in the fridge, mealworms still require moisture. Add a small piece of carrot every 1–2 weeks. Replace uneaten fresh food regularly to maintain hygiene.

If kept at room temperature, mealworms will begin to pupate into beetles and become less suitable as feeder insects.

Mealworms are relatively high in fat and have a firm outer shell, so they are best offered as part of a balanced diet rather than as a sole food source.
