Adoption is always our first recommendation — but our support doesn't stop at the shop floor. For 40+ years we've worked alongside local rescue groups and wildlife carers: hosting rehoming days, keeping cats and kittens available for adoption in-store, collecting for native wildlife rescue, and fundraising for all of them throughout the year.

There are thousands of pets already looking for a home. We'd rather you met one of them.
Our team will happily point you towards a rescue before a purchase - and if the match isn't right, we'll say so. Inside the store you'll find a dedicated adoption space where cats and kittens from our rescue partners wait for their people, plus regular rehoming days where you can meet dogs, greyhounds and rabbits face to face.
We don't charge our partners for the space, the food or the time. It's simply part of being the local pet store.

Rehoming days in-store
We host adoption events with our partner groups through the year — meet the animals, talk to the carers who know them, and start an application on the spot.
Cats & kittens for adoption
A permanent adoption space on our shop floor, care for by us, filled by rescue groups like Hills Kitty Rescue and AWL NSW.
Fundraising all year
In-store campaigns, donation drives, and ongoing food and supply support so our partners can spend their money on vet care instead.
Animal Welfare League NSW
AWL NSW rehomes surrendered, neglected and abandoned animals across the state. Through our K Rescue Pets partnership we've helped rehome more than 1,500 pets, many of them coming to us directly from AWL NSW carers and shelters.
You'll find their cats and kittens in our in-store adoption space, and their team at our rehoming days.

Greyhounds As Pets, NSW
Coordinated by Greyhound Racing NSW, this not-for-profit finds homes for greyhounds retiring from the track. We host their adoption days so Hills District families can meet these famously gentle, low-energy dogs in person before applying.

Hills Kitty Rescue
A local group dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of kittens right here in the Hills District. Rescued litters are raised in foster homes, vet-checked and desexed, and many of them come to our in-store adoption space to meet their families.

The Rabbit Sanctuary
The Rabbit Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes domestic rabbits — one of the most commonly surrendered and least understood pets in Australia. We support their work with supplies and fundraising, and back their message that rabbits need space, company and proper vet care, not a hutch in the corner.

Our wildlife partner: Hills Wildlife Sanctuary.
Hills Wildlife Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and releases native Australian wildlife across our region - the possums, birds and reptiles that turn up injured, orphaned or displaced. They're our key partner outside of adoption, and a couple of our own resident animals have gone on to live with them.
You'll find their donation boxes on our counter year-round, and we run extra fundraising for them when we can — including donating a portion of ticket sales from our in-store event days.

Can I adopt a pet in-store?
Yes. We keep a dedicated adoption space on the shop floor for cats and kittens from our rescue partners. Adoption applications are handled by the rescue group, and our team can walk you through the process while you're here.

How do rehoming days work?
Partner groups bring animals into the store for the day with their own carers. You can meet the animals, ask the people who know them best, and start an application on the spot. Dates are announced in-store and on our social channels.

Do you take surrendered pets?
No - we're a pet store, not a shelter, and we're not set up to assess or house surrenders. If you need to surrender an animal, contact Animal Welfare League NSW, or The Rabbit Sanctuary for rabbits. They'll do it properly.

How can I donate or fundraise with you?
Our fundraising campaigns run through the year in-store — look for the collection points and campaign displays at the counter. If your rescue group would like to work with us, get in touch and ask for the community team.

Why do you sell pets if you recommend adoption?
Because both things can be true. Adoption is our first recommendation and always will be. When a rescue match isn't available or isn't right for a household, we want that family buying from a store that audits its breeders, knows its animals and supports them for the pet's whole life.
