A Child's Passion and the Religious Scorpion September 13 2016

Dear Ben

I wanted to congratulate you and your team on the knowledge and customer service that I have received lately at Kellyville Pets.

My son has been so interested in reptiles and has purchased scorpions, centipedes and lately stick insects, from Kellyville Pets. Every question has been answered and the utmost patience has been shown to a 9 year old boy, that he has taken the animals to school to do talks about them and the scorpion (snippy) is the Kid's soccer mascot. Would you believe the scorpion has even been to Mass.

From my initial purchase I have had the pleasure of purchasing more animals from Patrick and his team in the chicken section.

My son has even asked could we move to Kellyville to be closer to the Kellyville Pets.

Keep up the good work.

Please pass this onto the owner as I'm sure they would like to hear great feedback.

Kind Regards,

Always consult with an expert before you settle on a breed of puppy that is right for you August 18 2016

We actually came in to buy a Beaglier but upon seeing how active they were and consulting with Brooke from your team, we settled on a Cockalier. This has proven to be an excellent choice and Charlie is now such a big part of our lives!

Buy your puppy from someone you trust August 18 2016

When my wife past away, I began thinking about a second puppy to bring more presence to our home once again, and also for a companion for George, my other Lab. I've been a customer at Kellyville Pets for many years now, well before you guys moved into the new building there! As kids growing up we'd bought previous dogs, cats, mice, fish tanks, fish, and endless supplies of pet food, toys and accessories through Kellyville Pets. I've also attended Puppy Preschool with Donna several times over the past 13 years or so (the first time was sitting around under a marquee out the front of the old shed store).

So when I began looking into purchasing a second labrador puppy I knew that I could trust Kellyville Pets not only with the puppies and breeders, but also with the process and the overall experience. I like to do my research to make sure I'm making the best choice, and like to do everything right for the new puppy too, and the staff at Kellyville Pets put up with my many returns back to answer all my questions, watch Ted interacting, and giving tips to prepare not only my home, but George also, for the arrival of the second dog. Since bringing Ted home, the followup has been brilliant.

Each time I go back to the store they ask me how Ted is doing, and staff seem genuinely interested. Puppy Preschool has been a brilliant and fun experience (again) not just for Ted, but also for myself. Ted settled in to his new home very quickly, and both George and Ted are inseparable. It's amazing how quickly they became friends, and how quickly Ted has become part of the family. Everything about this experience has been positive and brilliant (the only downside being all the extra poop!) Thank you everyone there at Kellyville Pets!

When I was ready for a new puppy. Looking on Internet with family to decide breed. Looking for Cav, Kellyville pets had what I wanted. I have 4 grandchildren that live with me aged 4- 12. First time I've had a male dog, but thought important for grandson. Olly has settled well now 17 weeks gone from 1.1kg to 4kg had all vaccinations.

Should you get two puppies at the same time? August 18 2016

We wanted to purchase 2 puppies at the same time. But after discussing it with the staff we changed our minds and decided to take the advice given and we will purchase another puppy once Zoey has settled, older and de-sexed. I'm glad we took your advice.

Look into rehoming before you buy a puppy August 18 2016

We looked into re-homing a rescue dog, but not for a long time. In the end, purchasing the Jug puppy came down to cuteness of the puppy, her suitability for our circumstances, and the obvious care demonstrated by your team member, Claire.

Perfect dog breed for people in their 60s August 18 2016

Our story is not very interesting but we are in our 60's and after losing our Samoyed Krystal 4years ago at the age of 14 years we were interested in a small dog. We spoke to a few of your staff in the dog section who suggested we research Cavoodle's as they would be perfect for us. We would check each time we came in (to look/get fish) to see if any Cavoodles had arrived but as soon as they came in they were gone. So put our name on the waiting list and the rest is history. We have just finished Puppy Preschool which was very interesting & informative with Donna. We are still plodding away with toilet training. Slow & steady wins the race so they say.

Kellyville Pets have an "Am I ready to own a dog" questionaire

Find out if you are ready to own a dog before you buy a puppy August 18 2016

Very happy overal, Harley is a wonderful addition to our family and we couldn't imagine it without him now. Even thinking about a friend for him soon, went through puppy preschool at Kellyville pets where I would like to make a special mention that the trainer was very knowlegable and clearly knew who had dogs previously and who hadn't etc
and now to approach and discuss etc. my only question would be a process for applicants looking to purchase a puppy checking they understand what they are getting into and making sure the puppies or any pets are going to a home they will enjoy and is good for them. Overal we can't thank Kellyville lets enough, their our local vet and local shop now and plan to be there again this weekend for a few small items, might bring Harley up for a coffee as well.

Research your dog before you buy. August 18 2016

We carefully researched a number of dog breeds to see which would be best compatible with our lifestyle. We spent about three to four months in total before deciding on a top two breeds. It has certainly paid off because Lexie has settled in so quickly and while it's only been two weeks, it feels like she's been with us for years.

Is a Greyhound right for you? August 08 2016

We think Greyhounds make great pets because...

  • They require very little grooming and shed little hair, which makes them very clean house pets.
  • Most do not bark, but they do sing sometimes.
  • They usually love all people and are very friendly.
  • They are easily house trained.
  • Greyhounds are very affectionate and always want to be with their human family.
  • Most get along with other pets, and make great second dogs.
  • They live longer than most large breeds (12-14 Years) and have very few health problems.
  • They love to sleep and lounge around a good part of the day.

But, we realise, like all breeds of dog, that they are not right for everyone.

Here are some important points to consider when deciding if the Greyhound is the breed for you...

Greyhounds are reasonably large dogs, they take up space.

They must NEVER be let off leash in an unfenced area - they are sight hounds and can see things as much as a kilometre away, which they naturally want to investigate.

It is advised that a minimum fence height of 1.5 metres (5 ft), including gates, should be provided. 1.8 metres (6 ft) is even better. All fencing should be in good condition, with no gaps underneath.

Greyhounds are not watch dogs or guard dogs.

Are You Right for a Greyhound?

Our obligation to the dogs in our care is to find them loving, responsible homes for the rest of their lives.
These are the things we look for in the prospective adopter...

  • You have made the effort to learn everything you can about Greyhounds?
  • You will provide a stable, long term home?
  • Your home will provide a safe environment?
  • Your other pets (if any) are compatible with a Greyhound?
  • You understand the dog pack behaviour and the importance of you being the leader?
  • You have a securely fenced yard?
  • Your work schedule permits sufficient time to spend with your dog?
  • You understand the ongoing expenses and are able to afford them? (Expenses include vaccinations, heartworm preventative medication, teeth cleaning, nail trimming and grooming and high quality foods.)
  • You agree to never let your dog off leash in an unfenced area?
  • You are committed to your Greyhound for the rest of its life?
  • You agree to return your dog to us, if for any reason you can no longer keep it?

Please adopt a Greyhound for the right reason - because you are drawn to their beauty and dignity, and because you want a companion animal to share your life with - not because you feel sorry for them.

If you are right for a Greyhound, and a Greyhound is right for you, our commitment to you is to do our best to match you to the right dog and give you as much support as you need to make the adoption a success.
